Kids
love stories. Kids love music.
Hank likes to put these two things together, with the help
of the kids, over the course of the four week session.
The kids are introduced to several original and traditional
songs, they dance along, sing along, and start to play along
with shakers, drums, congas, and maybe the occasional guitar,
ukulele or banjo.
Hank starts a story for each song, and the kids make choices
on what sort of characters, character features and emotions
they want to see in each creation. Of course, this is how
traditional songwriting and storytelling has evolved over
the course of mankind: isn’t it great to continue these
traditions by creating new material?
By the end of the session, everyone has worked together on
the class music. Each child can point to a part of the process
in which
they contributed.
And they can point it out to you over and over once they get
a recording of their music on a CD that they can take home
with them!
Yes, Hank records the class as they create the songs, and
as they practice and polish them to create a memento of their
musical creations.
The final CD not only contains material created by the children,
but also the names read out loud of all the participants,
the date and the titles of the musical pieces we created.
Your child will feel like a rock star whenever you play their
CD in the car or home stereo!
